A box made for a shelf or a stand, though some of these are big. Acoustic Research's AR-3a, AR-5 and AR-11 and the Advent Loudspeaker are sealed boxes about 25 inches tall, and JBL's L100 Century and 4311 are monitors you can stand upright or lay on their side. The EPI two-ways and the little AR-4x are easier to place. If a big one goes on the floor, raise it. AR suggested a stand 12 to 15 inches high for the AR-11. The big ones weigh about 35 to 53 pounds each, so they still need careful packing.
